BAU takes place every two years and covers more than 200,000 m² of exhibition space. The 2027 edition is spread across 19 halls, covering materials, technologies and systems for new construction, renovation and modernisation.
When should you start preparing your stand for BAU 2027?
For an international exhibition such as BAU, we recommend starting the stand design process at least 5 to 6 months before the exhibition.
For BAU 2027, this means that August or September 2026 is a good time to start. Starting early gives you enough time to develop the concept, make adjustments and arrange all technical and logistical details.
A practical planning schedule could look like this:
August – September 2026
Define your objectives, stand requirements and budget. Select your stand builder and start developing the stand concept.
September – October 2026
Develop and approve the design. Determine graphics, AV equipment, lighting, furniture, product displays and storage requirements.
October – November 2026
Finalize technical drawings and place facility orders. Messe München indicates November 2026 as the deadline period for technical orders through the Exhibitor Shop.
November – December 2026
Production of the exhibition stand, graphics and custom-made elements. Final checks of technical requirements, transport and logistics.
January 2027
Transport to Munich, stand construction and final preparation for BAU.
Starting later is not always impossible, but an early start gives you more freedom in the design and makes planning an international exhibition project considerably easier.
Set-up and dismantling BAU 2027
Messe München has published the following official construction periods for BAU 2027.
Set-up – most halls
4–9 January 2027: 07:00–23:00
10 January 2027: 07:00–18:00
All vehicles must have left the exhibition grounds by 18:00 on the final set-up day. Stand decoration can continue until 20:00.
Different set-up hours apply to Hall B0.
Dismantling – most halls
15 January 2027: 18:00–24:00
16 January 2027: 00:00–23:00
17–18 January 2027: 07:00–23:00
19 January 2027: 07:00–18:00

Frequently asked questions
For a custom exhibition stand, we recommend starting approximately 5 to 6 months before BAU. For the January 2027 edition, August or September 2026 is therefore a good period to start the design process.
For most halls, official set-up starts on 4 January 2027 at 07:00. The final construction day is 10 January. Different times apply to Hall B0.
Dismantling starts after the exhibition closes on 15 January at 18:00 and continues until 19 January 2027 at 18:00 for most halls.
